Show Us Your Holiday Decor

It’s that time of year, the season of two-sided people.  The season marketers love, people stress over and children become overstimulated with. The bah-humbug creeps its way out in the form of rude, irritable and cranky people.grinch03

But that’s only one side of the season.

The other side of the season pushes people into the kitchen for the traditional sugar cookie bake, then into the living room to assess the best spot for the Christmas tree and ends with the great dive into the spirit of holiday shopping. Christmas music, colorful lights, yeast and cinnamon in the air, all enticing people to act courteous, humble and generous.cartoon-angel-wing-free (1)

So, ease back, relax and enjoy the cool weather, bright lights and holiday décor. We’re here today to share a small part of our holiday décor with you. Feel free to share yours. We’d love to see it!

I always start my season with Christmas music and Poinsettia plants.  I love the rich red and green leaves.poinsettia-sm

I spend a few moments deciding what, when, how to decorate our home. It’s never the same from year to year, so whatever strikes me is what happens. My favorite Christmas decor is the year Neo, our cat, decided that a tree in the house was a wonderful opportunity…

To sleep…

And the Nikon moment of the season was Neo playing hide-n-seek…..

It was a fun year of plastic balls and colorful shapes as our cats thought the tree was all for their enjoyment. From batting and chasing to climbing and falling asleep, our cats enjoyed the special tree that year. I solved that problem by putting up a new tree the next year that was stiff and scratchy. They haven’t climbed it yet….maybe this year I’ll pull out our glass ornaments!

I’d love to see your décor for the season. So take a moment to share some photos. Also, visit my fellow Firebirds and their favorite holiday decor. . .  Sharon WrayKay Hudson, Tamra Baumann, and Priscilla Oliveras

  1. LOVE the photos of your kitty in the tree!!! Those are brilliant! Ours are always enamored, but have never climbed that high! We’ve learned to keep things very simple and just focus on the season and the reason. I have to have my tree and candles in the fireplace (Florida) and poinsettias (hot pink) that will remain until Valentine’s Day. On Feb. 15, spring arrives here in NE FL. Wishing you the happiest Christmas season, Jean. Blessings.

  2. Oh, so pretty! Buffy the Mouse Slayer used to sleep in the tree like that when she was a wee thing. Fortunately, she doesn’t try it now or she might break something! (Either her or the tree.) So sweet!!! 🙂

  3. I absolutely love Neo in your Christmas tree, Jean. I have the dream but not the drive this year, unfortunately. I have my tree up, but it’s been so frigid cold, no outside decorations. Wishing you and yours a wonderful Christmas and holiday season!

  4. I LOVED those photos of the cats in your Christmas tree! Since I have a dog who is afraid of bright lights, there’s no chance of getting him in a picture with our tree. I hope you get to pull out your glass ornaments this year — mine were packed up for years while the kids were small but now they love taking them out and hanging them out. I’d love to see a photo when your tree this year is done! 🙂

  5. I don’t have cats (allergic), but every year we have to deal with our friendly golden doodle standing too close to the tree, her tail wagging like crazy, banging all the ornaments and sending them rocking! 🙂

Love the pic of your cat slumbering in the tree. Goes well with “not a creature was stirring…” 🙂

    Happy Holidays!

  6. Cats in Christmas trees is a new one to me, Jean! I can just see you feeling the branches the next year and looking for the most scratchy! Too funny! Your cats always have tons of personality, that’s for sure! Happy Holidays!
